 "Reiki Pendant Set" A set of four mammoth ivory pendants with the four Reiki symbols. Reiki is an ancient spiritual-philosophical system for the improvement of body and soul based on the belief in transference or the channeling of energy to enhance the body's natural ability and energies. Reiki (ray-key) is an oriental word representing the energy of life all around us. It is derived from rei, meaning "transcendent passage" and ki, meaning "life energy". There are four traditional kanji used in creating Reiki symbols (shirushi). They are: cho ku rei - power symbol for increasing reiki energy sei heiki - mental/emotional healing and purification symbol hon sha ze sho nen - distance symbol for transmitting reiki energy dai kô myô - master symbol Reiki pendants have been created from countless materials, however, ancient ivory from the extinct wooly mammoth continues to be one of the oldest and most natural of all possible Reiki materials and, just as it was a thousand years ago, mammoth ivory is still legal to own world-wide. Hand-crafted scrimshaw is one of the oldest art forms known to man and kanji done in scrimshaw affirms the belief in only ancient, natural methods in the creation of Reiki. Hand-knotted black natural leather ties accent these Reiki pendants. In the past, Reiki symbols were created by master artisans who were also trained practitioners in the ancient martial and/or healing arts - a combination of skill and dedication that make a genuine Reiki pendant difficult to find or have made in modern times. Mikao Usui, founder of Reiki, was also a practitioner and believer in the martial arts. As a master craftsman in ancient mammoth ivory, I am also a Shodan in the Shaolin arts. Perhaps this is why so many practioners have asked me to create, and bless their very personal Reiki pendants.
