SO, when someone repairs a break in ivory and doesn’t do it properly, the joint is almost always an ugly mess and it eventually breaks again at the same spot – and then it gets sent to me for proper restoration. Problem is that I must first mechanically remove all the old glue that was used the first time. If I don’t remove it, I cannot get a proper fit for the restoration. PLEASE!! it costs less to get it fixed properly the first time. Removing old epoxy is time consuming and just adds to the cost of a proper restoration.
