Scrimshaw Art (click on image for full view)
This double-sided work of scrimshaw on ancient mammoth ivory shows us the endangered great open range animals of North America. The buffalo of the grass prairie and the polar bear of the arctic ice.
The base is hand carved warm cocobolo on the prairie side and cool purpleheart on the arctic side.
The sides are separated by a striking band of hand wrought polished brass.
Both sides display the title on scrimshawed antique ivory.
